Human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of girls, American girls, our daughters, will only stop when there is no longer a demand. We believe that each one of us can be a part of combating this evil. We must choose to raise awareness and raise our voice for these girls who cannot speak or advocate for themselves. We must also take action, whether in the help or healing of girls, lobbying for governmental policy, more law enforcement intervention and enforcement of current laws, or teaching our children to protect themselves. We must not choose to ignore the fact that this is happening in our communities on our watch.
We launched the We Can Save Her campaign in August 2007 and it was a huge success. This success was due in large part to our collaborative efforts with North Avenue Presbyterian Church, McDonough Christian Church, Peachtree Presbyterian Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, St. Marks Christian Church, Church of the Atonement and Faith Deliverance Church of Christ, Private Family Foundations and individual partners like you. By August 2008 we had raised over $125,000 that allowed for the purchase of a 7 acre 4000 square foot home in a rural community of Metro Atlanta.
Our current effort is two fold; we are focused on renovating this safe and secluded property so that the capacity for care can be realized sooner rather than later. And we are equally focused on raising consciousness, our voice and funds to sustain this long-term residential and therapeutic program for Trafficked and Commercial Sexually Exploited girls.
How will we do it? As a unified body of at least one thousand people committed to donating an ongoing $33 a month or more towards the effort of ending this form of Modern Day Slavery. Our collective donation will provide for a full year of long-term residential care, therapeutic services, individualized educational opportunities and life skill training for young girls (12-17) rescued from brutality Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation.
For additional information please email us at hopeforgirls@mylivingwater.org or call 770.486.6666. We appreciate every donation and every partnership. To that end, we ask you to to engage those in your circle of influence regarding the plight of this Modern Day Slavey and our efforts to serve and meet the victims at their need.
Living Water for Girls, an outreach of Circle of Friends, Inc is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Your donation is tax deductible as allowed by law.
